CHRISTMAS! Anybody who doesn't get a little excited hearing those words, there is something wrong with you. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. It is a time that I get to see all my family, people are in a happy mood, and seeing a Christmas tree in my living just makes me smile.
I will talk about what I normally do on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Generally my family travel down to my grandparents house. My three other cousins and aunt join us. We have a nice family dinner of either homemade chicken and noodles, or a Christmas ham. After dinner we head over to the church for the Christmas Eve service. During the service, they give us candles and I always end up playing with the wax. When we return home, we sit in the kitchen playing card games. As it rounds time for bed, we go upstairs to go to bed. All six of us sleep in the same room. The boys normally get the feather beds on the floor, while us girls get the two beds.
The next morning when we wake up we have to make sure that everyone is up. We round everyone up into the living room and open our presents and stockings. In our stockings are lottery tickets. I never win anything thing but they are still fun to scratch off. After all of the presents have been open we go to the kitchen to have the traditional breakfast. Cinnamon rolls, homemade fruit cups, and hot chocolate.
Christmas is the best and always holds a special place in my heart.

Blogs
Why are we forced to write blogs? Blogs are ways to express what you are feeling or have feelings about. If we don't have anything to write about, why are we suppose to write about something that we are not passionate about.
I don't want to sit here and talk about politics. I have opinions but it is something that doesn't really interest me and I'm not informed enough to write anything about it. I could write about other people, but still, I don't really care about them.
I believe that is you have nothing to write about, not passionate about, we shouldn't be forced to write blogs for a grade.

Darfur
Many of you may not know this and I didn't know this until little over a year ago, but there is a major civil war happening in Darfur. The Dardurians were tired of poverty and not having their voice being heard, so a rebel groups rose up against the government in 2003. The government retaliated with the scorched earth campaign by using a group of militia known as the Janjaweed to displace and kill the innocent civilians of Darfur.
The killing of the Darfurians is refereed to as genocide. Each day, over 100 people die and every month, 5,000 people die. Since the beginning of the war 400,000 people have lost their live and 2,500,000 were displaced.
The genocide in Darfur needs to stop. Even today it is still going on and the only way that this war is going to stop is if someone intervenes. What I personally believe is that the United Nations should step in and say something to the government and if need be use armed forces to help save the lives and help rebuild the country of Darfur.

Passing Out
Has anyone ever passed out? Have you had the feeling of lightheaded and can't see? The next thing you know your on the floor and someone is asking you if you are alright. Well I have and I'm going to tell you what happened.
I was job shadowing at the hospital. I had been up early in the morning and I didn't get the chance to eat breakfast because I was running late. For lunch I only had a sub sandwich and some root beer. I forgot to drink water that day so when I went to the hospital I was already feeling weird. For the job shadow we had to dress up nice so I have in a nice sweater that was getting kind of toasty. Some reason they have to have the hospital at a steaming one hundred degrees. I walked into a patients room and I started getting dizzy. I grabbed onto the wall and all of a sudden I woke up on the floor apologizing.
Passing out is something that is not fun. Since then, I have remembered to drink water in the morning so it doesn't happen again.

Closer to the Edge
Recently I have been listening to this song called Closer to the Edge by one of my favorite bands, 30 Seconds to Mars. 30 Seconds to Mars has so many deep lyrics and this song really stood out to me. The whole thing just reminds me of not to regret anything that happens.
This song taught me not to say sorry. I had regretted a past relationship but when I listened to this and how strongly they sang about not being sorry, it made me think that I don't need to regret anything and realize that this is what makes me me. The song says it best "I will never forget I will never regret I will live my life"
"I don't remember one moment, I tried to forget
I lost myself, is it better not said?
Now I'm closer to the edge
If it's a thousand to one and a million to two
Time to go down in flames and I'm taking you
Closer to the edge
No, I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
No, I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
(No, no, no, no)
Can you imagine a time when the truth ran free
The birth of a sun and the death of a dream
Closer to the edge
This never ending story
Hateful with pride and fate
We all fall short of glory, lost in ourselves
No, I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
No, I'm not saying I'm sorry
One day maybe we'll meet again
(No, no, no, no)
I will never forget
I will never regret
I will live my life
No, I'm not saying I'm sorry

Senior Night
I never though the day would come, my volleyball senior night. I always looked up at the seniors and now I know someone is looking up at me. I remembered last year at this time, I just kept thinking I cannot wait to be a senior. I can't wait for this to be all over. Now that I'm here I'm just like does it have to be over so soon, so quickly? What happened to all those years I had in front of me? In junior high when I started playing volleyball with my friends, it was so much fun and amazing. After this season I'm never going to play with them again. Senior night in a sum is about the most memorable and stressful thing in my high school career.

Basketball
I have always played basketball. Ever since 3rd grade. It has been a big sport in my family and I have always been encouraged to play. The thing is I don't want to play. I have never been very fond of basketball and its just something that I particularly enjoy.
I have been thinking about quitting for some time, but am I going to regret it? Sure I had some great times during basketball and sometimes the games were fun, but is that the only reason that I play? Everyone always says its your senior year, your going to regret not going out. I don't know what to think about this because in ways I might regret it but I will never know unless I don't play.

The Color Purple
I have just started to read the book The Color Purple. When I first open the book I was surprised by the way that it was set up. I was expecting to be reading a chapter book but instead each "chapter" is a letter to God that this girl has wrote. These letters are like her diary or journal. They tell about her life and things that have happened, the passing of her mother, the young girl being raped, and how he killed that baby.
I'm interested to sit and actually read this book because the last time that I read a book had to be at least 2 years ago.

Camping
In light of one of my favorite comedian, I want to talk about camping.
Why is it that we choose to go and sleep outside in the cold on the hard ground while being eaten alive by mosquitoes and smelling like campfire? I don't have a real answer for this except for the experience. There is nothing like sitting by a fire, wrapped in a blanket, talking with friends, and getting away from the world. To look up and see the stars in the sky is amazing! Sleeping on the ground makes you thankful for that bed you have at home. It is simple things like camping that are some of the best things in life.
Although you might come home with a back ache and smell like the rear end of a cow but it is the fun I had camping that I wont forget.
Here is a clip of him. It only goes until like 3 minutes. ENJOY! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qle-vjHoQa4

Killing Chickens
This past summer my grandparents came up and we butchered are chickens. I am going to explain to you how we did it.
What you first did was pull the chickens head off. This can be by stepping on the head and pulling the feet or by putting a large pole or stick over there neck and step on the ends of it and slide the head off. From there they will flop around a little bit but when they are done you dip the chicken body into boiling hot water. This loosens the feathers up and then you take them out of the water and pull all of the feathers off.
Once all of the feathers are off you take off the rest of the neck and pull out the intestines. No, from there you can leave the chicken whole for a roasting or chop the chicken up for frying. What you normally do chopping the chicken up is dislocate the wing and leg sockets and cut them off. That is how you kill a chicken.

Keep Fighting or Let Go
Imagine, someone or something that is important to you. You have it, it is yours. You are happy, ecstatic. You wake up every morning in a good mood, whistling, smiling like a fool. Nothing can seem to bring you down. Now imagine you don't have it anymore. You are sad and depressed. You go to your friends for advice about it and how to make you feel better. Well the most two common things that I think are the sayings "Let it go and if it comes back, it is meant to be" and "If it is worth fighting for, don't give up"
Doesn't it seem like they contradict each other. How can these two sayings be used for the same situation? My question is when is it right to keep fighting and when is it time to let go? I have come to the realization that you fight for something as much as you can and when you can't fight anymore or you realize it is time to let go, you let it go. Then you sit and see if it will come back.
